"Max Polin has lived his whole life in Washinton State; it was at the Seattle Pratt campus that he received basic soft glass intruction at age 14. During the summer of 1998, then 17 years old, good fortune and help from Jason Lee landed him a spot at 49th St. Shop, a local glass studio. From 1998 until 2001 Polin worked in several different glass co-op studios before settling into his own studio in Ballard, Washington. His creations include marbles, vases, oil lamps and sculptural pipes. Now 26, he is still learning from leaders in the piping community, having recently taken a sandblasting class with Pakoh, and attributes his glass development to Jason Lee and Kevin Nail's contrasting styles, technical expertise and contructive critique."
